Who We Are…
All Saints is a member of the Episcopal Church USA in the Diocese of Alabama, and of the Anglican Communion, with more than 70 mil-lion members worldwide bound together by persuasion, common doctrine from ancient Catholic origins in England, and a rich Reformation heritage. As Episcopalians, we understand our Christian identity to be formed by God, as we encounter the story of Jesus in the worshipping community. It is here that the externals of faith - Scripture, creeds, and liturgy - meet the internals of faith - the lived experience of the Spirit, through prayer, praise, and sanctity, within the heart of each individual. In this sacramental conversation of conversion, reconciliation, and redemption, we are nurtured in a relationship with each other and our Lord Jesus Christ. Thus, all that we do - our liturgy, outreach, learning, praying, and loving - reflects the values we affirm in our worship, with Holy Eucharist the center from which all parish ministry and Christian mission proceeds. What We Do….
Past performance, it is often said, is the best indicator of future success. With this in mind, consider a portion from our Senior Warden’s Report to the parish for the year 2005: “In all my years at All Saints Church,” he writes, “I have always been deeply impressed by our sense of mission and ministry. In 2004, in the wake of the Great Flood of ’03, the Church came together and created a beautiful “revived” facility... In 2005, our parish embarked on a year of living into the vision “Spirit to Hand”, wherein we translated our rejuvenated physical and financial health into spiritual growth and spirit-driven action. Our spirituality as a parish grew and continues to grow and deepen as a product of rich, meaningful worship, engaging educational offerings, and varied and exciting fellowship opportunities... “It’s not enough simply to serve the needs of our own flock. The Great Commission and God’s Second Commandment call us to go forth into the world and to be the face of Christ to those whom we encounter. All Saints gave over 22% of pledged income We are a rich church...As Christians, we are asked to be all we can be for Christ...2006 offers another year to build upon our spiritual foundation, to serve Him, and to live into our legacy as the faithful Community of All God’s Saints, who are alive in Christ.” |
